UAE Wildlife: Discover the natural wonders of the Emirates

The UAE’s beauty goes beyond its skyscrapers and luxury. Hidden within its borders are stunning landscapes and wildlife. The Emirates has it all from scenic deserts to eye-catching mangroves. Here are several natural wonders in the UAE that should be on your bucket list.

Liwa Oasis

The area of Liwa Oasis is in a region where the Rub’ al Khali, the lowest desert on Earth, is located. Dunes and date palm trees tower above. This oasis is a peaceful escape from city life.

You can also walk on the dune or go for a camel ride. However, to explore a bigger area of this beautiful desert region one should rent a car Dubai and roam around appreciating the natural beauty.

Jebel Hafeet

Jebel Hafeet is the UAE’s highest peak, the second highest in the UAE mountains, and overlooks the city of Al Ain (Abu Dhabi). Because of terrain and sight, the site is accessible by car all through the year.

The mountain beds host fossils, and these findings may provide palaeogeography data on the geological region of the mountain. From the top, you get to see the desert stretching to the horizon.

Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary

The Ras Al Khor Wildlife Sanctuary in Dubai is a sight to behold. Flamingos are the starring attraction of this wetland at the peak of winter.

Also, the sanctuary is inhabited by herons and egrets as well as other wildlife birds. Visitors can view these creatures from designated viewing platforms. Ras Al Khor is an example of the Dubai approach to natural resource management. It is easily accessible by a rental car and has plenty of free parking.

Hatta Town on the Hill

Hatta, a hilly town in the Hajar Mountains zone, is picturesque and has recreational facilities that facilitate outdoor activities. The Azure waters of the Hatta Dam are beautiful in contrast to the concrete base.

You can do kayaking and paddleboarding in the calm waters. Hatta’s trails take you through stunning landscapes. Indigenous plants and peculiar animals can be seen in the region.

Mangroves of Abu Dhabi

Mangrove ecosystems of Abu Dhabi provide ecological services to wildlife. These forests deliver coastal security, roosting, fishing habitat, and avian habitat. Flamingos and herons feed in these calm waters.

The interior of mangroves is one of the most enjoyable ways of getting to experience this natural marvel. You can get yourself down to the water’s edge to look at the things that might be swimming beneath its surface.

Fujairah’s Beaches and Marine Life

The beaches of Fujairah are one of the counterfactual elements of the natural endowments of the United Arab Emirates. The sea is a blessing to the marine world and a fantasy for a freediver. The coral reefs support a large diversity of marine animals, including pretty fish, and turtles.

Beaches offer time to relax away from sunbathing and beachfront strolling. Fujairah has stunning landscapes and underwater exploration. It is a mystery to us who wander lost where the travel bug bites.

Wadi Wurayah National Park

Wadi Wurayah is the United Arab Emirates’ first mountain ecological reserve. Freshwater streams and waterfalls create a very green landscape. The park is a home for threatened animal species such as the Arabian leopard.

A visitor can walk through the wadi and enjoy viewing the endemic plants and animals in the region. The park is UAE’s mission to preserve its natural heritage.

Khorfakkan is one of the hidden treasures of the UAE. It boasts untouched beaches and cliffs. The blue waters are perfect for snorkeling and diving. The strong coral reef ecosystem offers a habitat to many diverse colored corals and sea turtles.

The surrounding mountains have hiking trails for nature lovers. The Khor Fakkan scenic area provides the ideal setting for recreational and discovery experiences.

Al Wathba Wetland Reserve

The Al Wathba Wetland Reserve Abu Dhabi is every birder’s bucket list destination. The reserve has over 250 species of birds including the greater flamingo. Roosters of flamingos congregate in its shallow lake during the season of migration.

The reserve also includes numerous unusual flora and fauna endemic to ecological types. The place is a 30-minute drive from Abu Dhabi city centre, which can be done on your rental car. However, movements are limited and people only walk on indicated pathways and birdwatch at observation points. These strict rules are to help conserve Al Wathba’s natural heritage.
