Where Do Dolphins Live?

What part of the world do dolphins live in?

Nearly 40 species of dolphins live all over the globe. The only places dolphins don’t live are the polar regions—although one dolphin species, the orca, or killer whale, lives close to both the Arctic and Antarctic. (And, yes, the orca is actually a dolphin species, rather than a whale.)

Most dolphins live in the world’s seas and oceans. But a few—four, to be exact—are river-dwelling dolphin species. The most well-known of these river dolphins are the two species that live in the tropical rivers of South America.
